Fortress Wall

What a busy day. We booked a new hotel for when we get back from Tokyo on Friday and then took our suitcases there for storage. We found a pizza and burger place that Tim and I loved, Otto not so much. Otto's burger came sitting in a mayo sauce with a butter toasted bun, prosciutto, American cheese, onion, cabbage, onion, pickle, catsup, mayo, mustard all covered with bacon and a sunny side up egg. Uncle Mike would have been in heaven. Suffice it to say Otto was not pleased. Under duress he ate the burger part and then all the fries not touching the cream sauce in the bottom of the dish. I don't know how people around here stay so thin with a menu like that. Notice that it comes with pickled veggies - so mouth wateringly delicious and I don't have to share because Otto won't touch and they are too spicy for Tim. Molly might want to travel half way around the world for those at every meal! Much yummier than kimchee in my opinion.
We came upon a fitness park which is I suppose how they stay so thin. We've seen many of these and you just go up and use the machines so Otto and I played for awhile while Tim sat off the pizza, eggs and bacon and salad that he had eaten for lunch.
What I meant to take a picture of but got distracted from is that each tree in this park had a literal IV bag hanging from it. I don't know the purpose but it made us laugh. Then we took a stroll up the fortress wall that turned into a 3 hour extravaganza that included a million steps up and down climbing a mountain. It was the kind of trek that we might not have undertaken had we but known. About halfway up we had to show our passports because that part of the wall surrounds the president's compound. From then on there were guards watching as you hiked along and photos were prohibited. We ended up hiking about 9 km straight up and down and thank goodness Otto has great conditioning because he didn't complain even once though he did take out his umbrella for some shade. :)
When we got down we just got on a bus and trusted it would take us to a metro station and sure enough, it did! The public transportation around here is absolutely amazing. These girls were on a handball team that had just won and spent the bus ride chatting with us - they were so cute and friendly and brave trying out all their English!

What an adventure. Culinary, cultural, strenuous, challenging, hilarious; it might make you all world travelers going forward! And look at you, talking in kilometers...I'll have to go to my app to convert that to miles. Go, Otto!
